Get Good Sleep at Daycare!

Let's chat DAY CARE! We know this can be a huge topic and decision for families. There are lots of emotions surrounding this, but one thing we want to assure families of is that BABY CAN STILL BE AN AWESOME SLEEPER AT DAYCARE--in fact, they often become the best little sleepers! 🎉 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The fact that daytime sleep and nighttime sleep use different parts of the brain really works in our favor in these situations. Babies can master nighttime sleep and have great nighttime sleep even if you are not able to control or monitor naps closely at daycare. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So what are some ways we can foster good sleep while baby is in daycare?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. Establish positive sleep habits before your baby starts daycare. We say this with a lot of things, but teaching your baby positive, independent sleep skills early on helps with SO many things--including day care naps!⠀⠀

2. Communicate well with the day care workers. (angels in disguise!) Find out about the routines and policies at daycare. Be sure to communicate your routines but ultimately, know that these teachers are amazing. They are gifted with children and love your baby well! Thats the most important thing! ⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀
3. Be consistent at home. As we mentioned before, daytime sleep and nighttime sleep use different parts of the brain and baby knows the difference between sleeping at home and sleeping at daycare. If your baby is putting themselves to sleep for bedtime at home, no need to alter that when baby starts daycare!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

4. Don't be afraid of early bedtime! If naps are a struggle at daycare, this can be a great tool to help maintain great nighttime sleep⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
