Favorite Things - Nursery Setup
One of the biggest projects you undertake as you are getting ready for a new baby is planning the nursery. It can be elaborate or simple; a big room or just a little nook but, planning your baby’s space is an exciting project as you prepare for their arrival! Here at Sleep Baby, we focus on making a nursery a place that is perfect for lots of good, deep sleeping! To that end, all of our must haves relate to how we can help baby get rest!
Crib or Bassinet - you need to have somewhere flat for baby to sleep. You may choose for baby to stay in your room for awhile but make sure they have their own place to sleep there as well! The crib or bassinet should have nothing in it like bumpers or blankets.
Blackout Curtains - there are lots of these out there so choose some that fit with your room. The important piece is having them. We want their room to be as dark as possible so their body knows it is time to sleep!
These travel blackout curtains are a nice option for when you are away from home.
Diapers and Wipes - you are going to need lots of these! One tip we have is to have a diaper changing station outside of the nursery as well so that you aren’t always having to run back there to change things!
Video Monitor - keep an eye on your baby and know when they need you! We love video monitors but remember, you don’t need to keep the video on all the time, only when you hear them.

A lovey - when your baby is old enough, a lovey is a great way to help them soothe and settle in their bed. We are huge fans of Angel Dear and have also recently discovered the Kyte Baby lovey. It is the same soft material as their sleep sacks and can attach to a pacifier!
Pacifiers - These are great for soothing! If your baby doesn’t take to it right away, keep trying! Our favorites, because they are easy to hold in, are the MAM and NUK brand.
Travel - when you’re away from home, you still want a safe place for baby to sleep and you want to mimic their nursery as best you can! We talked about sound machines in a previous post, definitely bring one of those as well as your monitor! You will also want:
A travel crib or pack n play. Baby needs their own flat, safe place to sleep. Bring a sheet that smells like home!
